Welcome to Make It in Manufacturing
The Manufacturing Institute is committed to getting as many people excited about manufacturing as possible. Our revelled Make It Campaign encourages the crowd to step inside the industry, opening their eyes to the possibilities of a career in manufacturing.
Our Make It Campaign has served to produce a pipeline of enthusiastic, talented candidates for recruiters, rejuvenating British manufacturing with two eyes firmly on the future.
Creating the next generation of manufacturing talent
In partnership with manufacturing businesses from across the UK, Make It invites local schools to compete against one another in a series of enterprising challenges with the goal of educating young people about the careers available to them within the manufacturing sector.
These practical one-day events challenge young people to form their own mini-manufacturing companies, gaining advice and guidance from a range of industry experts and advocates, and learning more about the creative and aspirational employment opportunities manufacturing can offer.
The events involve teams of pupils each setting up their own mini manufacturing businesses and competing to create a new product. Challenges involve approximately 100 pupils and 15 teachers from up to 12 local schools and are designed to introduce them to the world of manufacturing and learn about different jobs within the industry. It will help them to develop their enterprise skills and qualities, including teamwork, communication and leadership, which will benefit them as they move through their education.
The Make It Challenge heats take place throughout the year with the winning teams going through to the Make It Grand Final where the Make It Champions are crowned.
