The Shingo workshops are not just about learning, they are about engaging with a community of like-minded professionals. They help participants gain a deeper understanding of the Shingo Model, championing the guiding principles and teaching the behaviours necessary to achieve ideal results within their organisations to deliver a sustainable culture of organisational excellence.

For workshops to be lively, interactive and personal, we recommend 10-12 participants.

Our recommendation, based on the structure of the workshop series and over 16-years of Shingo success, is to start with the Discover Workshop followed by a Benchmark Assessment. Together, we establish a benchmark to assess your current standing and maturity against the Shingo Assessment criteria, which helps identify improvement areas. With this clear benchmark, we work with you to develop a detailed roadmap that defines current and future states, paving the way for targeted progress.

Participants of Shingo Public workshops and gain from the lively, peer-to-peer debates around shared experiences and different challenges, the value of meeting new people, networking, being away from distractions and unparalleled access to go-and-observes that greatly enhance your learning experience and insight.

Hosting a closed workshop offers invaluable benefits, including the opportunity to share experiences within an open and confidential space. Structured interviews provide insightful feedback, and reflective discussions enable all participants to understand how well their organisation aligns with The Shingo guiding principles. Additionally, participants benefit from interactive feedback from the workshop facilitator, full-group discussions, small-group interactive exercises, and the go-and-observes. The Manufacturing Institute collaborates with host sites to plan activities and go and observe requirements, ensuring a meaningful Shingo learning experience that drives continuous improvement and excellence for all participants.

There continued on-site support and coaching. The implementation phase involves executing this roadmap through tailored training, coaching, and operational support to drive effective and sustainable change. This includes on-site leadership development and executive coaching, implementation of lean tools and methodologies and workshops for value stream mapping, 5S, TMP, SMED, and problem solving.

The Shingo Prize is awarded to organisations that have robust key systems driving behaviour close to ideal, as informed by the principles of organisational excellence, and supported by strong key performance indicator and key behavioural indicator trends and levels. Shingo Prize recipients show the greatest potential for sustainability as measured by the frequency, intensity, duration, scope, and role of the behaviours evidence.

To ensure continued growth, we offer on-site coaching and support with the Shingo Challenge. The most important aspect of a Shingo Prize challenge is a well-grounded understanding of The Shingo Model and assessment methodology. This understanding is best gained by attending our training workshops that sets clear expectations for challengers.

Shingo encouraged us to think categorically, the principles are divided into three dimensions: Cultural Enablers, Continuous Improvement, and Enterprise Alignment. The first step a leader must take in leading a cultural transformation is understanding what each of the Shingo Guiding Principles means.

Some of the key objectives of the kaizen philosophy include quality control, just-in-time delivery, standardised work, the use of efficient equipment, and the elimination of waste. The overall goal of kaizen is to make small changes over a period of time to create improvements within a company.
